Young Scot Launches Access To Sanitary Products Campaign

The Scottish Government and Young Scot have launched a new campaign which gives young people all the information they need about periods and access to sanitary products.

Our dedicated access to sanitary products digital platform, young.scot/periods, hosts articles, videos and information on subjects like what periods are, sanitary product options and where to access them, and myth-busting about periods.

The aim of the campaign is to end the stigma around periods, and ensure that young people across Scotland have somewhere they can go if they need information about periods and sanitary product options.

The campaign coincides with the launch of a new report published by Young Scot and the Scottish Government which presents the findings from Young Scot’s Co-Design project with young people focussing on access to sanitary products.

Communities Secretary Aileen Campbell said: “We are proud to have worked in partnership with Young Scot both to gather the views of young people and develop this vital resource. It will help young people understand more about this important issue and tackle the stigma around periods and sanitary products.”

Louise Macdonald, Chief Executive of Young Scot said, “We want to end the stigma of talking about periods for young people and are therefore proud to be delivering this collaborative campaign with the Scottish Government via the Young Scot digital platform. This dedicated resource delivers essential information on periods and access to sanitary products for young people, co-created with young people.”
