Young Scot Schools #YSSchools is our programme for schools that ensures learners have full access to the Young Scot National Entitlement Card (Young Scot NEC), alongside our Young Scot digital information, discounts, volunteering opportunities and enhanced entitlements.

The programme also helps schools to create strong links with educational outcomes, policies and procedures. These include the National Performance Framework, Curriculum for Excellence and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Schools who take part become a Young Scot accredited school and receive an accreditation badge. They also receive a range of resources that will support them to deliver the programme.

COVID-19

The impact of COVID-19 and lockdown on young people’s lives have already been enormous, and there is much more to come. Many are worried their future career prospects have already been damaged. For others, they say their anxiety levels have increased, they now don’t feel in control of their lives, and many have fears about their futures.

Young Scot Schools #YSSchools can support leadership teams, teachers, librarians and guidance staff to provide learners with information, support and opportunities. These are essential when supporting young people to recover from lockdown, and will enable them to continue to grow, thrive and achieve.

#YSSchools

The programme is easy to follow and is adaptable to each individual school. There are six criteria relating to Young Scot services – and schools should meet four of these to become accredited. These are easy to evidence, and our Schools Officer is on hand to support schools to achieve this.
